Hong (Norman) CHEN

BIOGRAPHY: ​​​​​​​​​Doctor of Engineering, Associate professor, School of Computer science, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Deputy Director of Key Laboratory of Interactive Technology and Experience System, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, PRC.

Norman CHEN has been devoted to the technical research in the fields of human-computer interaction, virtual reality and digitalization of cultural heritage for a long time. Norman Chen is the Rapporteur of Question 23 SG16 (Digital culture-related systems and services) and the secretary-general of the National (China) Technical Committee on ACG Standardization.​

ABSTRACT: Community engagement: Creating digital culture standards for connecting experts and the public
Given that cultural heritage inherently involves all m​embers of society and that we are moving towards a more digital method of experiencing and preserving our global heritage, it is necessary to expand the social participation in the development of digital culture standards, to include both digital culture experts and the public.

This speech highlights:
  1. Digital culture technology and product development trends;
  2. Problems existing in the development of digital cultural heritage;
  3. ITU-T Q23/16 work progress and planning in the field of digital cultural standardization;
  4. International cooperation initiatives for the standardization of digital culture.
