Dr. Tembo is former Managing Director of Zambia Telecommunications Company Limited (ZAMTEL). He has over 22 years of experience in the Telecoms Sector (in both Industry and Academics). He holds a Doctor of Engineering in Electrical, Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering from Akita University (JAPAN); a Master of Engineering in Information and Network Science from University of Electro-Communications (JAPAN); & a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering from University of Zambia. His Doctorate research was in cooperation with Nippon Telegraph & Telephone (NTT) Corporation in Tokyo, Japan. Upon returning from Japan, he spearheaded the introduction of the Master of Engineering programmes at the University of Zambia, which includes:

2. MEng. in ICT
3. MEng. in ICT Regulations, Policy & Management
4. MEng. in ICT Security
5. MEng. in Telecommunications Systems
6. MEng. in Wireless Communications
He is currently the Assistant Dean Postgraduate Studies in the School of Engineering. His research interest includes Next-Generation, High-performance and Robust Networks, Mobile and Wireless Sensor Networks, Multi-Path and Buffer-less Routing Algorithms for Optical Fibre Technologies, & ICT in Modern Societies. He is a member of IEEE and EIZ.
