The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) organised the
ITU Workshop on “Network Performance, Quality of Service and Quality of Experience" that was kindly hosted by the
Autorité de Régulation des Communications Electroniques et des Postes (ARCEP) in N'Djamena, Chad from 2 to 3 March 2020.
The workshop was succeeded by a meeting of the
ITU-T Study Group 12 Regional Group for Africa (SG12RG-AFR) and the associated Bridging the Standardization Gap (BSG) Hands-on Training Session on 4 and 5 March 2020.
The workshop was organized in response to WTSA-16 Resolution 95 on "ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector initiatives to raise awareness on best practices and policies related to service quality". The working languages of the workshop were English and French.
Objectives
The workshop objectives included, but were not limited to:
- Introduce the work of ITU on performance, quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE);
- Exchange telecommunication service quality best practices, including on QoS evaluation, benchmarking and optimization;
- Identify QoS and QoE requirements for popular OTT and content subscription services;
- Assess the impact of trends in the telecommunications sector on service quality.
Target Audience
Participation in the workshop was open to ITU Member States, Sector Members, Associates and Academic Institutions and to any individual from a country that is a member of ITU who wished to contribute to the work. This included individuals who are also members of international, regional and national organizations. Participation in the workshop was free of charge, however seats were limited and no fellowships were granted.
