Derick has worked with the communications regulator in Kenya for the past nine (9) years as a Compliance and Enforcement Engineer. He is in charge of ensuring safety and conformance of the ICT systems to established standards. He is also in charge of Quality of service/experience assessment in the ICT sector in Kenya.
His current roles encompass planning & executing technical and administrative inspections for all the telecommunication licensees to ensure compliance to relevant standards. This involves periodic monitoring of compliance to expected (QoS) quality of service KPIs and safety standards of the ICT/telecommunication installations.
He is a member of the environment and safety committee at the CA, He is an active participant in the EACO working group 9 on QOS & Consumer affairs as well as working group 10 on E-waste and the ICT environment. He is an active participant of Working party 3 in ITU-T Study group 5 where he serves as editor and associate rapporteur. He has served as secretary to the ITU-T Regional group for Africa since 2012.
