Gary Fishman is President of Pearlfisher International, a consultancy on international standardization. He has held multiple leadership positions in ITU and has provided many capacity building seminars throughout the world. He has developed interactive and e-learning courses for ITU, including Guidelines on Establishment of a National Standardization Secretariat for ITU-T.
He has participated in ITU-related activities with the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT), CITEL in the Americas, ATU in Africa, the Arab States, CIS in the former Soviet States, and CEPT in Europe. He has been a member of the American National Standards Institute and served on various ANSI policy committees. During his 12 years as TSAG Chairman, he served as a member of the ITU/ISO/IEC World Standards Cooperation and he created the TSAG Young Delegates Group to improve the means by which new standards participants can gain experience and effectiveness in international standardization.
His work experience with Bell Laboratories, AT&T, Lucent and Alcatel-Lucent includes a broad range of technical and policy matters and he has degrees in electrical engineering from the City College of New York, Columbia University and New York University. Gary is a founding member and Vice Chairman of the Board of the US ITU Association.
