Mr. Haruo Okamura is an expert in High-speed Optical Transmission Technologies, Submarine Transmission Systems and, International Standards at ITU and IEC. He was a Vice-Chairman for ITU-TSGI5 (Optical Transport Networks) in 2001-2004 and a Vice-Chairman of ITU-T TSAG (Chairing ITU-T Work Programme and, ITU-T Strategies) during 2005-2012. He was the Convenor of IECTC86 Optical Amplifiers during 1998-2006. He is attending environment-related standards at ITU-T SG5 and IECTC111. He was a Moderator and Lecturer for APT BSG workshops in '04, '05, '06, '07, '08. He is currently the president of Global Plan Inc., a senior adviser of Japanese National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technol., ITU Association of Japan and, Corning Inc.(USA). He holds a Ph.D and a MBA degree.
