MARIKAR Tariq

 

Dr Tariq Marikar is the Senior General Manager of the Internet Data Center business unit at Dialog Axiata PLC, which oversees the operation, expansion and business performance  of 4  Dialog Customer Data centers. Prior to that he was the Senior General Manager of Service & Delivery for Dialog Enterprise. Subsequent to the Dialog / Suntel merger,  he was the Chief Information Officer of Suntel Ltd. His 20 year career spans senior roles in telecommunications, electronic banking, lean manufacturing and in R&D. He has lived and worked in the United Kingdom, in Toronto, Canada and has been in Colombo, Sri Lanka for the past 7 years. Tariq holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of London. He is a Chartered Engineer registered with the British Engineering Council, a Certified Management Accountant registered with the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Australia, a certified Project Management Professional of the Project Management Institute USA, a Fellow of the British Computer Society, a Chartered IT Professional and a Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers USA. He enjoys dealing with customers, understanding their legacy environments and constraints and formulating the next generation of solutions that make their businesses more efficient.
