​After studying law at Turin University, Fregolent sat the state exam to become a qualified lawyer. She worked for ITS-Global Value as a Contract Lawyer from 2000 to 2005, and later as a Consultant for the Environment Department for the Piedmont Region from 2005 to 2010.
Before being elected as a Member of the Italian Parliament, she had already gained valuable political experience at local and provincial level. From 2001 to 2006 she was a Local Councillor, and from 2009 to 2013 she was a Provincial Councillor for Turin.
In 2013, Fregolent was elected to the Italian lower house, The Chamber of Deputies, in the ranks of the Partito Democratico (Democratic Party - PD).
She is a PD Deputy Chief Whip and the person in charge of economics in the PD Group of the Chamber of Deputies. She is also a member of the PD National Board.
