BOZZO Mario

Mario co-founded IBI Group’s UK/Ireland practice from start-up phase some 20 years ago, and is currently part of a core group globally within IBI Group providing thought leadership and overseeing project delivery in the smart city industry.  Mario is a member of the British Standards Institute (BSi) – Cities Standards Institute, which brings together cities and key industry leaders to work together in identifying the challenges facing cities, providing solutions to common problems and defining smart city standards.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning (University of Waterloo, Canada), and a Masters in Engineering (University of Leeds, UK), Mario has a collaborative style who has demonstrated an ability to work across different geographies, sectors (Transport, Health and Education) and disciplines (architecture, planning, engineering and technology) with a high degree of emotional intelligence and integrity.

Mario’s experience is rooted in an entrepreneurial approach to business growth. He has shown a high degree of adaptability, organisational awareness and resilience, all within complex projects and their respective organisation environments – one of the more significant projects being Travel Demand Management for the London 2012 Olympic Games.  Mario’s family roots are Italian, and retains a uniquely Canadian-Italian-British cultural mix.​

Title: Key Areas Cities Need to focus on to be fit for the Future

Cities are often trying to better understand what exactly smart means to them, how some of the forward thinking cities have made achievements, what they should be doing and how they should get started.  The presentation will focus on some key philosophical, organizational and practical areas cities can focus on to become a top tier smart city.
