ROLIN Jean-François, Ifremer, France

Jean_François_Rolin_photo.JPGDesign engineer, is responsible of subsea observatories and Deputy Head of the unit “Technological Reseach and Development” in Ifremer, Brest, France. He graduated from CESTI/SUPMECA engineer school (1976).

After an experience in high speed train design and on the structural assessment of offshore platform in a classification society in France and Norway, he joined Ifremer as the Head of the mechanical design team. He participated in the development of tens of profiling floats, oceanographic instruments, landers or benthic stations. He has performed several studies on reliability of deep sea systems and coordinated a national standard on quality tests of oceanographic instruments.
Among maCoordinator of EMSO PP. He is currently Head of the ENVRIPLUS Executive Board, where he is in charge of a task devoted to link European Environment Research Infrastructures to the Joint Task Force on Smart cables systems.
