Summary: A Robot Data Factory (RDF) is a platform-based infrastructure that systematically collects, produces, and synthesizes robot action data through physical robot fleet operations, teleoperation interfaces, simulation environments, and data processing pipelines, serving as the foundational process for generating datasets required to train AI-based robotic systems. As RDF platforms proliferate globally, the lack of common standards for data formats, interface definitions, and platform architectures is creating significant interoperability barriers across organizations. An international Recommendation defining the signalling requirements and architecture for Robot Data Factory is therefore needed to provide a common reference framework for the industry. The RDF consists of five layers — Service, Robot model/data, Infrastructure, Device and Management — each defining signalling reference points for interconnection between robot data factory components. This recommendation provides signalling requirements and architecture for robot data factory, offering an overview of the signalling architecture under diverse environments encompassing various functions.
