Summary:
|
With the increasing diversification of applications, traditional networks lack the capability to perceive fine-grained service demands, leading operators to adopt over-provisioning strategies and resulting in low bandwidth utilization.
As described in [ITU-T Y.3650], Big-data-driven networking (bDDN) collects big data from networks and applications to generates big data intelligencefor autonomous network management, operation, control, optimization and security, etc. [ITU-T Y.3659] further specifies the functional architecture and mechanisms for application awareness in bDDN, covering three dimensions: application requirement, application status and application context.
As BDDN and application awareness gain broad recognition, the next essential step is to spcify the corresponding signaling architecture to ensure interoperable and efficient realization of these capabilities. Therefore, we propose a new work item to standardize the signaling architecture of big data plane in bDDN to support application awareness, building directly upon the functional foundation laid in [ITU-T Y.3659].
