Nowadays, the public users are surrounded by smartphones and the other devices they interact with in the office or in their connected home. The devices and services using in vertical industry sectors are divers as well. It’s in high demand for both of the public users and vertical industry sectors to create and control the networking and services provision for the devices in accordance with their own necessities.
A de-centralized network architecture which incorporates the integrated user-centric service units is needed to improve the resource efficiency and support fast user-centric service provisioning in the IMT-2020 and beyond. An integrated user-centric service unit (IUSU) supports end users to define network and service capability profiles according to their own necessities. Fixed, mobile and satellite convergence (FMSC) is the capability of IUSU in supporting multiple access technologies used by various devices. Based on the requirements and enhanced architecture defined in ITU-T Y.3205 and Y.3229, it is time to address signalling architecture in support of integrated user-centric service units (IUSU) for fixed, mobile and satellite convergence (FMSC) in IMT-2020 and beyond.
The goal of this document is to initiate a work item to specify the signalling architecture, signalling requirements, and signalling procedures for FMSC in support of IUSU.
