Summary: As digitalization, networking, and intelligence advance in the smart grid, more power grid applications require real-time sensing, wide-area coordination, reliable communication, and service continuity. In the smart grid environment, the service systems are shifting from basic monitoring to integrated processes that support sensing, transmission, analysis, decision-making and response. This increases the need for coordinated use of sensing systems and networking systems. The service model of sensing and networking coordination supporting the smart grid can enhance the self-owned services and provide the innovative convergence services to the customers. The new work item proposed specifies the concept, service characteristics, reference model, service scenarios and use cases of the service model of sensing and networking coordination supporting the smart grid, as well as the technical aspect requirements for supporting the service model in future networks.
