Summary: Deterministic communication is essential for next-generation networks like IMT-2030 and Industry 4.0, requiring reliable transmission with bounded latency and ultra-low jitter. However, traditional security protocols introduce unpredictable processing overhead and "security-induced jitter," which can disrupt precise scheduling in deterministic networks. Quantum Key Distribution Networks (QKDN) provide a transformative solution by enabling physically out-of-band symmetric keys and efficient XOR stream encryption with minimal latency impact While ITU-T Y.3825 provides an application-level integration framework for QKDN and Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), the internal functional architecture remains "best-effort," lacking mechanisms to synchronize key supply with deterministic service cycles. This Recommendation specifies a functional enhancement framework to evolve QKDN into a "deterministic-aware" infrastructure. It defines architectural requirements, cross-layer coordination interfaces, and demand prediction mechanisms necessary to achieve "zero-wait" key availability. By minimizing security-induced jitter, this work provides a top-level architectural foundation for ensuring end-to-end security and determinism in time-sensitive vertical industries.
