Summary: This Recommendation specifies a framework for end-to-end key distribution over heterogeneous quantum channels in quantum key distribution networks (QKDNs). It defines the conceptual structures, basic functions and high-level procedures to support end-to-end key distribution across heterogeneous quantum channels realized over fiber-optic medium and free-space optical medium. The framework provides a common basis for supporting end-to-end key distribution in heterogeneous quantum networking environments.
