Summary: In this recommendation, the guidelines for carbon footprint reducing of ICT equipment in the supply chain of telecommunications operators are introduced, including: (1) The principles that should be followed in managing the carbon footprint of ICT equipment in the supply chain include legal and compliance first, full life cycle management, classification management, phased management, collaborative management, and continuous improvement; (2) Propose methods for classifying ICT equipment in the supply chain, dividing them into three levels: level one (high priority), level two (regular management), and level three (simplified management), based on factors such as equipment purchase amount, carbon footprint of the equipment, and carbon emission scale; (3) Divide the carbon footprint management of ICT equipment of telecommunications operators into the initial stage, the improvement stage, and the leader stage; (4) From the dimensions of carbon footprint accounting and reporting, carbon footprint verification and validation, carbon footprint management in procurement, carbon footprint collaborative emission reduction, and carbon footprint digital platform management, propose the tiered and phased carbon footprint management methods for the ICT equipment of telecommunications operators, respectively classifying and managing the carbon footprint of the equipment by tier and stage.
