Summary:
|
Quantum key distribution network (QKDN) provides information-theoretically secure key establishment based on the principles of quantum mechanics and is considered a promising technology for enhancing communication security in the quantum era. As transport layer security (TLS) 1.3 is widely deployed to protect internet communications, the integration of QKDN-supplied keys into TLS has attracted increasing attention as a means of strengthening cryptographic resilience against future quantum threats.
This Recommendation provides a security framework for the use of QKDN-supplied keys in TLS 1.3. It describes security requirements for utilizing QKDN-supplied keys in TLS, presents a reference model illustrating the interactions among relevant functional entities, and specifies a basic procedure for incorporating QKDN-supplied keys into TLS operations.
