Summary: This Recommendation provides a framework for QR code-based serverless password manager (QSPM) using a mobile device, which enables users to store their passwords on their own smartphone and transfer them to a PC browser or another mobile app when needed. The framework consists of a QSPM mobile app, QSPM browser extensions, and QSPM relay servers. By entering the ID and password for each online service in the QSPM mobile app and scanning the QR code displayed by the PC browser with the QSPM browser extension installed, the ID and password stored in the QSPM mobile app are automatically transferred to the PC. In addition, when an ID and password are required by another mobile app on the smartphone, they are automatically filled in by setting QSPM as the default password manager of the mobile operating system.
