Summary: The increasing use of autonomous delivery devices (e.g. autonomous delivery robots and unmanned aerial vehicles) in hospitals raises common challenges, including redundant deployment and isolated use of these autonomous delivery devices, limited resource utilization, and insufficient coordination for different material transport tasks. The considered scenarios include transport of healthcare-related materials among service areas within a hospital and transport of healthcare-related materials between hospitals. This draft Recommendation addresses these issues by introducing material transport coordination in hospital logistics systems: – Transport task information handling and service-area coordination. Transport requests from service areas within a hospital and from hospitals are processed as healthcare-related material transport tasks, and related information is exchanged with relevant service areas or hospitals to support receiving, preparation, handling or confirmation arrangements; – Differentiated coordination based on transport task information. Transport tasks are processed according to task characteristics such as urgency, timing requirements, specified transport conditions, service priorities and scenario types in hospitals; – Task-to-device matching and feedback-based coordination adjustment. Autonomous delivery devices are matched and allocated based on material transport task information and capability and status information of autonomous delivery devices. Execution feedback can be used to adjust scheduling, reselect or release assigned autonomous delivery devices, notify relevant service areas or hospitals, and record task completion. Requirements and capabilities are specified for material transport coordination in hospital logistics systems.
