Summary: Internet of things (IoT) provides connection of various of sensers, smart devices and infrastructures etc. The data needs to be analysed for further application and services. The security of the collected data and control signals becoming more important. As the development of the quantum computing, modern cryptographic algorithms are no longer secure. Quantum key distribution network (QKDN) as a new cryptographic technic could support the IoT to transmit data and signals securely against quantum computing attack. The IoT should be able to send requests for the keys for cryptographic application in IoT to the QKD network and use them to do the encryption and decryption procedures. Meanwhile, according to the characteristics of IoT indicated in Y.4000, there will be a large number of key requests regarding on the number of devices in IoT and the frequency of reporting data. Therefore, IoT needs to optimize the key request parameters based on the IoT service information. This function remains unclear in existing work programmes and Recommendations. Meanwhile, in order to using QKDN capability to secure data transmission in IoT, it is valuable to carry out necessary standardization works. This draft Recommendation specifies requirements, framework and procedures of enhanced IoT for QKDN capability support.
