Summary:
|
The global healthcare industry is now accelerating its digital and intelligent transformation. Smart hospital, supported by the Internet of Things (IoT), is promising for optimizing diagnosis and treatment processes, and improving hospital’s management efficiency enabled by large-scale applications in scenarios such as patient monitoring, equipment management, material traceability, and in-hospital security.
However, in the actual development of IoT system for smart hospital, there are still multiple challenges. On the one hand, there are many types of IoT devices in the hospital, such as vital sign monitoring device, wearable device and medical image device, which vary in connection density, connection method and network service level agreement, making it difficult to satisfy all these requirements. On the other hand, as construction of these IoT systems are mostly deployed independently, unified management is hard to achieve, leading to low efficiency of hospital’s daily operation.
This draft Recommendation provides a comprehensive overview of the IoT system for smart hospital, covering requirements and capabilities across all four layers—including device layer, network layer, service support and application support layer and application layer — to create an integrated IoT system for different scenarios in the smart hospital. Hospitals can benefit from this Recommendation in terms of facilitating hospital IoT system planning, improving the management and operation efficiency, and reducing relevant costs.
