Summary:
|
The delay associated with cryptographic key generation and distribution may significantly affect the quality of cryptographic communication services, particularly for real-time applications. Requiring cryptographic services to strictly match the delay QoS of user communication is not always feasible over long transmission distances. However, when cryptographic communication systems are deployed within transmission ranges acceptable to end users, the resulting quality of service can be regarded as satisfactory. This is particularly relevant for cryptographic communication employing advanced key-provisioning mechanism, including QKD-assisted and post-quantum cryptographic approaches.
This Recommendation specifies delay-related QoS framework applicable to cryptographic communication services and provides a basis for the design and implementation of such systems to ensure compliance with QoS requirements.
