With the explosive emergence of new information technologies, data is gradually becoming the source of value creation. Distributed data exchange is a key topic in the current digital economy. Relevant international organizations have been established with the mission of creating open, secure, and trusted data spaces. The industry has extensively conducted discussions on methodologies for describing data attributes and their optimized utilization in model training. Within the same industry, data exchange can break down internal information silos, optimize business processes, and enhance operation efficiency. Cross-industry data exchange can offer external insights, accelerate the development cycle of new technologies and products, thereby driving technology innovation.
As a novel network architecture centered on "information identification", Information-Centric Networking (ICN) provides native, efficient, and secure underlying support for data exchange scenarios. However, ICN still exhibits limitations when confronting complex data exchange scenarios. To fully maximize the application potential of ICN in data exchange scenarios, it is necessary to enhance the ICN framework for distributed, diverse types of data exchanging.
This draft new Recommendation specifies requirements and capabilities of ICN enhancement to support distributed, diverse types of data exchange. It provides a framework to enhance the network capability, including data requirement awareness, differentiated service guarantee, flexible network service establishment, large data transmission, and transparent and controllable network paths.
