Summary: Recommendation ITU-T G.8275.2 specifies a profile for telecommunication applications based on the precision time protocol (PTP) per IEEE 1588. This profile specifies the PTP functions that are necessary to ensure network element interoperability for the delivery of accurate phase/time (and frequency) synchronization. The profile is based on the use of partial timing support (PTS) or assisted partial timing support (APTS) from the network architecture as described in Recommendation ITU‑T G.8274, and definitions described in Recommendation ITU-T G.8260. Common aspects of PTP profiles for phase/time synchronization are specified in Recommendation ITU-T G.8275. This amendment of Recommendation ITU-T G.8275.2 provides the following changes: Adds QLs for Category 1 frequency source in Table 5. Updates Table 4 and Annex F. Replaces “PRTC” with “PRTC/ePRTC” in Table 4 and at other relevant locations. Editorial enhancements throughout the document to align with ITU-T G.8275 and ITU-T G.8275.1. Updates Clause 2, 4 and 5. Adds a note in Clause 6.7.9.
