Summary:
|
As connected vehicles continue to be developed, their increased connectivity exposes them to a growing range of cyber threats, while electronic control units (ECUs) have become sophisticated through the adoption of emerging technologies. To protect vehicles against cyberattacks, it is important to secure their electronic systems. ECUs provide functions for controlling vehicle components including the engine, steering, braking, windows, keyless entry and other systems. Therefore, ensuring the security of ECUs that are connected to external networks connection is essential.
Manufacturers and suppliers integrate security technologies into externally connected electronic control units (ecECUs) of connected vehicles to enhance vehicular security.
This Recommendation provides security requirements for ecECUs based on threat analysis and industry practice. These requirements are applicable to enhance vehicular security from the aspects of hardware, operating system, application software, communication, data, update and log.
