Summary: Multimedia content is becoming dominant in the Internet, and the significant amount of the traffic in the mobile networks is also multimedia. Information-centric networking (ICN) offers increased flexibility, higher efficiency, and improved user satisfaction in various multimedia services by using the information-centric paradigm which is focused on the named content, rather than having to reference a specific and physical location of the content. This Recommendation describes requirements and functional architecture for ICN-based mobile multimedia services to deliver multimedia content in an efficient, scalable, secure, and collaborative manner.
