Recommendation ITU-T H.IPTV-EDM specifies the requirements and functional architecture for IPTV end-user device management (EDM) system supporting multicast services in home networks. This Recommendation defines the functional requirements for the EDM platform, IPTV terminal device (TD), home networking device (HND) and delivery network gateway (DNG). The functional architecture, work flow and three typical IPTV multicast service implementations (port bridging, MAC address bridging and full routing) are also specified accordingly.
With this Recommendation, IPTV service providers and network operators can remotely manage IPTV end-user devices, identify home network topologies, select appropriate multicast strategies and perform sequential device configuration with anomaly handling, thereby enabling efficient and reliable IPTV multicast service in home networks.
