Summary: SG13 approved a series of Recommendations on the framework, functional requirements, functional architecture, key management, as well as control and management of QKDN (ITU-T Y.3800, Y.3801, Y.3802, Y.3803, Y.3804). These Recommendations constitute fundamental set of specifications of QKDN. FG-QIT4N developed a technical report D2.3-Part2 on “Quantum key distribution network protocols: Key management layer, QKDN control layer and QKDN management layer”. To avoid interference with each other, the report suggests that new work items on specific protocols should be developed separately at each reference point. Following the suggestion, SG11 initiated and recently approved a series of Recommendations on protocol framework and protocols for Ak, Kq-1, Kx and Ck interfaces for QKDNs (ITU-T Q.4160, Q.4161, Q.4162, Q.4163, Q.4164). The key generation control protocol at the Cq interface is quite demanded by QKDN operators and it is supposed to be applicable for different QKDN implementations. To further facilitate QKDN operations, this draft Recommendation will study the protocol at the Cq interface between a QKDN controller and a QKD module for a QKDN. This WI will refer to the existing Recommendations and ongoing draft Recommendations in SG11, SG13 and SG17. Especially this WI will refer to the architecture, reference points, and procedures which are defined in ITU-T Y.3802 and Y.3804.
