Summary:

The current application scenarios for remote powering and data transmission of access points and other equipment, require a type of a hybrid cable that has a small footprint, is light weight, and is convenient for installation. This Recommendation deals with a type II optical/electrical hybrid cable (OEHC) in which a copper pair is used for power delivery (not for telecommunication) and an optical fibre can support data transmission up to and beyond 1 Gbit/s.
