Summary: 5G wireless network construction is being or going to be in progress in many countries all over the world. C-RAN (Centralized -Radio Access Network) mode is going to be popular solution for 5G fronthaul. Furthermore, converged access networks, in which FTTH, radio access and other application share the same network infrastructures, bring benefits in economics and network flexibilities. This revised Recommendation deals with optical single-mode fibre access network architectures for FTTH, together with C-RAN and converged networks.
