Summary: The detection and analysis of traffic elements based on roadside sensing devices is an important foundation for intelligent transportation. At present, sensing devices that can be used in roadside to build an intelligent transport system include cameras, lidars, milli-meter wave radars, etc. The requirements for sensing devices, such as quantities, combination, deployment mode, data collecting ability, transmission interface will affect the quality of data obtained by intelligent transport system through them. In order to support ITS obtain comprehensive and effective perception data, this supplement proposes the requirements of roadside sensing devices in ITS. First, use cases of sensing devices working in different traffic scenarios are listed and analysed, then the requirements of sensing devices are specified considering traffic scenarios and the functional characteristics of different sensing devices. The requirements include the necessity, combination, quantities of multi devices and data collecting ability and transmission interface, etc.
