Title: A Frequency Shift Keyed Modem for Use on the Public Switched Telephone Network

G.168 specifies a minimum set of modems to be used for Test 14 (Performance with V-series low-speed data modems). The minimum set includes one type of text telephone whose characteristics are specified in TIA-825-A.

This document specifies a FSK modem which operates at nominal data signalling rates of 50 or 45.45 symbols per second over the switched telephone network

The document describes the modem for a mode of text telephone communication that has been dominating in USA for at least 30 years. TIA-825-A is a revised version of TIA-825 and was approved in April 2003. Current standards status of this document can be found at http://www.tiaonline.org site.
