千兆比特容量无源光网络(GPON)：总特性

本建议书叙述能支持商业和住宅业务的带宽要求并包含下行方向标称线路速率1.2 Gbit/s和2.4 Gbit/s和上行方向为155 Mbit/s、622 Mbit/s、1.2 Gbit/s及2.4 Gbit/s系统的灵活光纤接入网。叙述对称和不对称（上行/下行）千兆比特容量无源光网络(GPON)系统。本建议书的目的是根据运营商的业务要求提出GPON的一般特性。
本建议书的目的是通过重新考虑所支持的业务、安全策略、标称比特率等对G.983.1的系统加以提高。为了保证与现有系统和光纤基础设施的最大兼容性，本建议书保留ITU-T G.983.1建议书的某些要求。
