La Recommandation UIT-T G.7703 décrit l'architecture de référence et les exigences pour le réseau optique à commutation automatique (ASON), appliquée aux réseaux de transport en mode circuit ou en mode paquet et en mode connexion. Cette architecture de référence est décrite sous la forme des composants fonctionnels fondamentaux et de leurs interactions mutuelles.
L'Amendement 1 a pour objet d'harmoniser cette Recommandation avec la Recommandation UIT-T G.7701 (2022), qui spécifie les aspects communs de commande pour l'architecture des réseaux ASON et des réseaux pilotés par logiciel (SDN). Il fait référence aux paragraphes communs avec la Recommandation UIT-T G.7701.
