En la Recomendación UITT G.8312 se describe una tecnología de transporte para redes metropolitanas (MTN), que abarca el transporte del tráfico de las redes de acceso radioeléctrico distribuido (D-RAN) y de las redes de acceso radioeléctrico centralizadas (C-RAN). Esta tecnología aprovecha los módulos Ethernet adicionales existentes e incipientes y reutiliza la lógica de implementación de la Ethernet flexible (FlexE).En la Enmienda 4 se añade un nuevo Apéndice VI con el fin de describir la asignación de bits del cliente CBR, incluyendo AMP y GMP, y también se actualiza el Cuadro A.1 para definir el valor PT para fgCPU.
