ITU's Girls in ICT Day initiative is a global effort to encourage girls and young women to consider studies and careers in information and communication technologies (ICT). It takes place every year on the fourth Thursday of April and since 2011, over 177,000 girls and young women have taken part in 5,300 Girls in ICT Day celebrations in 150+ countries worldwide. This year, we'll be celebrating on 28 April 2016.
With the number of school girls opting to study technology-related disciplines in decline in most countries worldwide, ITU is committed to championing the catalytic role a tech career can play in creating exciting, far-reaching opportunities for women and girls.
