Leveraging Collaboration to Accelerate Digital Inclusion

Jamaica has made important strides in its digital transformation journey, with progress under Vision 2030, expanded broadband coverage through the National Broadband Initiative, hundreds of public Wi-Fi hotspots, and reforms such as the Data Protection Act and advances in digital public services. Programmes like BIGEE are also strengthening the entrepreneurial and MSME ecosystem, while Jamaica’s participation in the global ’50 in 5′ initiative reflects its commitment to building strong digital public infrastructure.

Yet, persistent challenges remain. Broadband access is still uneven and relatively costly, connectivity gaps exist outside urban centres, and limited digital skills and trust infrastructure hinder wider adoption. Addressing these barriers is essential to ensure that Jamaica’s digital transformation benefits all communities and supports inclusive, sustainable growth.

The Partner2Connect (P2C) Matchmaking Accelerator provides a unique platform to tackle these issues through a multistakeholder approach, as no single actor can close the digital divide alone. This workshop will foster new partnerships, align pledges with Jamaica’s national priorities, and launch a digital connectivity mapping project to inform better decision-making. By engaging government, private sector, civil society, entrepreneurs, and development partners, the session will help accelerate concrete initiatives for universal meaningful connectivity and sustainable digital transformation in Jamaica.

“We have found that the P2C Platform itself is an excellent tool, offering transparency, visibility, and the ability to connect with partners and resources that can truly make a difference… CTU is proud to be part of this movement, and we look forward to helping translate these pledges into an impactful initiative for the region.”
