Mobilizing partners to connect everyone
In our capacity as the custodian of the Radio Regulations treaty, we signed an agreement with the European Space Agency to optimize satellite communications, broaden the coverage of our spectrum and orbital monitoring in space, and further reduce harmful radio interference worldwide.
At the same time, we warned about rising incidences of jamming and spoofing – deliberate misuse and disruption of radio frequencies, often near areas of conflict. Alongside the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and International Maritime Organization (IMO), we called for stronger protection of global satellite navigation services.
Our growing AI Skills Coalition launched an important new online training platform: the AI skills hub. The ITU Global Youth Summit amplified young people’s voices on building a connected future for everyone. And we put out a new standard with the World Health Organization (WHO) to promote safe and responsible device use to prevent hearing loss among gamers.
Our ongoing series of youth robotics challenges featured a lively competition at a secondary school in Abuja, Nigeria.
Leading mobile and satellite operators announced major new pledges at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, boosting commitments via our Partner2Connect platform to over USD 73 billion by that point.
