Transformative connections
We inaugurated the Giga Connectivity Centre in Geneva as our headquarters for the joint ITU/UNICEF Giga initiative, which supports governments with the aim of connecting every school to the Internet, and home to the Giga Learning Hub, delivering specialized ITU Academy training programmes.
The latest ICT Development Index enables benchmarking over time and across countries, regions and income groups, helping to monitor progress, set priorities, and enhance accountability. Our new Greening Digital Companies study, meanwhile, captured key trends in greenhouse gas emissions and climate commitments across the sector.
UN Virtual Worlds Day served as a global call-to-action to leverage the AI-powered platforms to accelerate social progress. During UN 2.0 Week, we showcased our own AI-driven ITU transformation journey.
At the UN’s Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, we promoted digital infrastructure as a priority in the Seville Commitment on development finance. Together with UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), we launched the Digital Infrastructure Investment Catalyser to connect investors with high-impact projects and help unlock the billions needed to open the digital future for all.
