Empowering girls for the digital future
Our latest Smart Village, which we opened in Swabi together with representatives from the Government of Pakistan, Huawei and other partners, provides another valuable showcase for digital life in rural communities, with enhanced connectivity strengthening access to healthcare and education and fostering new economic opportunities.
Like every April, our community around the world celebrated International Girls in ICT Day, aiming to encourage more girls and women to pursue careers in the digital sphere.
The International Amateur Radio Union – a longstanding ITU member and partner – marked its centenary, noting the critical role of ham radio operators in emergency response and community preparedness.
A century after the discovery of quantum mechanics, we stepped up discussions about how to leverage quantum information technologies for everyone’s benefit. We joined United Nations and industry partners in celebrating 2025 as the Year of Quantum Science and Technology and showed the way forward with a new initiative to unlock Quantum for Good.
