Terms of Reference on Roles and Engagement Categories within the Global Initiative on Virtual Worlds and AI – Discovering the Citiverse

The Global Initiative on Virtual Worlds and AI welcomes the participation of a diverse range of stakeholders, including governments, cities, private sector companies, civil society organizations, academic institutions, UN entities, and others. To ensure consistency in engagement and recognition, participating entities are categorized under one of the following roles: Champion, Founding Partner, or Supporter. Each role reflects the nature and extent of the entity’s contribution to the Initiative.

Champions

Champions are entities that demonstrate leadership by providing financial contributions in support of the Initiative. This may include funding for events, challenges, research outputs, communication activities, trainings, travel grants, or other related efforts. To ensure visibility and recognition proportional to their contributions, Champions are categorized as follows:

  • Diamond: contributions of CHF 200,000 or more
  • Platinum: contributions of CHF 50,000 or more
  • Gold: contributions of CHF 30,000 or more
  • Silver: contributions of CHF 10,000 or more
  • Bronze: contributions of CHF 5,000 or more

Founding Partners

Founding Partners are the organizations that launched the Initiative. They serve as the core convening entities and contribute to shaping its long-term vision. The Founding Partners are:

  • International Telecommunication Union (ITU)
  • United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC)
  • Digital Dubai

Supporters

Supporters are organizations that have expressed endorsement of the Initiative and actively participate in its activities. This includes, but is not limited to, participation in tracks, contribution of use cases, co-organization of events, provision of expertise, or public advocacy of the Initiative.

Guidance for Individual Participants

Individuals involved in the Initiative may refer to their participation using one of the following suggested titles:

  • Leader or Co-Leader of [Track Name] Track in Global Initiative on Virtual Worlds and AI – Discovering the Citiverse
