Summary:
|
Rapid developments in digital services, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and large-scale data applications are accelerating the evolution of network infrastructures. IPv6-based technologies, together with innovations such as Segment Routing over IPv6 (SRv6), network slicing, digital twin, AI-driven network automation, high-capacity IP transport networks, and high-speed data center networks, are enabling more advanced and resilient connectivity architectures.
These developments raise new economic and policy considerations related to infrastructure investment, connectivity sustainability, and resilient digital ecosystems. The proposed Technical Report aims to provide an analytical overview of global trends, economic implications, international practices, and policy considerations associated with IPv6-based future networks and resilient connectivity. The report will be informative in nature and intended to support Member States in their efforts for rolling out IPv6-based future networks for resilient connectivity.
