Summary: This Recommendation specifies requirements and a reference framework for data fabric system in multimedia. The Recommendation defines the scope, positioning, concepts, roles, high-level requirements, reference framework , functional components, data flows, metadata flows, strategy execution flows, feedback flows and governance technical considerations of a data fabric system. A data fabric system enables logically unified and physically distributed discovery, access, integration, sharing support and governance of heterogeneous data sources. In multimedia scenarios, it supports documents, images, audio, video, 3D content, network telemetry, service data, AI-related data and other data assets. It provides data services to consumers through active metadata, semantic management, augmented catalog, data virtualization, governed access, orchestration and operational feedback mechanisms. The reference framework includes the following functional component groups: data connectivity and virtualization; active metadata and semantic management; augmented data catalog and discovery; data services and intelligent orchestration; data governance; multimedia data intelligence and AI-readiness; and fabric management and observability.
