Summary: This Recommendation provides the technical requirements and evaluation methods for intelligence levels of wide-area networks (WANs). The intelligence levels are used to indicate the level of application of automation capabilities of WANs [ITU-T Y.3173]. The following aspects are addressed in this Recommendation: Definition of intelligence levels (L2–L4) for WAN devices and controllers. Specification of technical requirements and evaluation methods for each level. The scope of this Recommendation is limited to IP-based wide-area networks across multiple domains and operators.
