Summary: The rapid growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) has created large-scale, heterogeneous, and dynamic environments, where traditional centralized and rule-based models do not adequately support scalability, adaptability, and resilience. To address these challenges, distributed IoT (DIoT) has emerged as a required paradigm, in which AI agent collaboration is essential. Coordinated perception, reasoning, and decision-making among multiple agents enable flexibility to cope with dynamic conditions, supporting information sharing, distributed optimization, and self-organization, thereby improving DIoT performance. This draft new Recommendation focuses on the requirements of AI agent collaboration in DIoT. It addresses requirements for intra-layer and inter-layer collaboration, multi-agent management and performance evaluation, as well as adaptability and resilience in dynamic environments. These requirements provide the basis for a standardized framework to guide the deployment and coordination of AI agents in distributed IoT systems.
