Summary:
|
As connected vehicles continue to be developed, the connections expose vehicles to increased cyber threats while the electronic control units (ECUs) has evolved into increasingly sophisticated systems through emerging technologies. To ensure the vehicles are protected from attacks, it is important to secure the electronic systems. ECUs provide functions controlling vehicle components including engine, steering, braking, windows, keyless entry, and various vital systems. Therefore, the security of ECUs with external connection is essential.
Manufacturers and suppliers integrate security technologies into ecECUs of connected vehicles to secure vehicles. This proposal provides security requirements for ecECUs based on threat analysis and industry practice. These requirements are applicable to enhance vehicular security from the aspects of hardware, software, communication and update.
