Summary:
|
With the expansion of network scale, it is essential to exploit the massive amount of data in large-scale networking, including physical network elements, network slices, paths or tunnels, and traffic in the network, to build hierarchical network data models for different network applications. The digital twin network makes it possible to construct hierarchical data model from multiple layers such as network elements, network topology, paths, services, traffic, and functions. By means of network data models, with network comprehensive perception capabilities, supporting path navigation, capacity assessment, SLA guarantee, and other network applications, the digital base of intelligent network can be constructed with the characteristic of being automatic, self-optimized, and autonomous.
From the perspective of functional requirements for practical network applications, this new work item specifies constructing network data models with network layered modeling and visualization techniques based on the digital twin technology. It leverages hierarchical modeling of various types of data in the network to construct real-time digital twin network, realizing the interactive mapping with physical network, and provides services for different network applications such as multi-dimensional and multi-layer visualization, automatic optimization of network traffic, and unified management of network resources.
This draft Recommendation enhances the data model domain of the architecture framework of digital twin network specified in ITU-T Y.3090.
