Summary: With the promotion of renewable energy in residential communities, a large number of residential community (RC) users are transformed into prosumers with a dual role of producer and consumer. An energy storage service for residential community (ESSRC) is a basic service provided to an RC in the smart city, and it aims at improving energy reliability, renewable energy utilization, and economic benefits for RC users. The ESSRC has the characteristics of intelligent power dispatch and optimization management, remote monitoring and predictive maintenance, and a user-friendly interface. The ESSRC builds on an ICT-based information management system. This Recommendation specifies the requirements and capability framework of an ESSRC in the smart city. This Recommendation will help to promote the achievement of circular and sustainable smart cities and communities. A use case of the ESSRC is provided in Appendix.
