Summary: There is a certain severe overvoltage and overcurrent strike called transient overvoltage (TOV) from power supply side to impact ICT equipment normal operating, which is caused by the fault of public main power grid. Furthermore, The transient overvoltage (TOV) can also transfer to DC power supply of ICT equipment through the grounding point of AC/DC rectifier. To mitigate or reduce the loss and damage of the strike of transient overvoltage (TOV), there are some research results and technical suggestions specified as below: (1) For transient overvoltage (TOV) from DC power side, the paper analyzes the generation source, transfer path, loss mechanism, TOV stress model and protection scheme etc. (2) In accordance with the research on theoretical analysis, simulation, testing and verification etc, there are some test methods and solutions proposed.
